1 MAY 2023: Unwittingly dragged along to see related passengers on a vintage train to a station near home led to my having to drive to Ground Zero to retrieve my GN.  a date had sprung up by the station,  a ferris wheel,  dodgems and fake log ride, coffee stands for the mothers. GN makes a well timed raid on a donut van, "a donut" transforms into a tray of six layered in choc syrup! I was distracted,, he thought he'd won,  but my retribution will last longer than his sugar hit.   a really sweet moment as i spot this vintage British car on the way.  I confess to have gone on Hillman minx- powered surfing safaris to the north coast.  An endearing little car, with crank start, but devoid of the classic British exhaust notes.  More like a child's fart at best.  All good though,  more character than a car carrier full of charades.

wild swimming

29 APRIL 2023: Lately I've really been getting into wild swimming.  It's a bit of the product of a) using a motorbike for transport and b) having to entertain my nephew.  I've actually swum fire decades,  even before and after for decades,  i would swim at every opportunity.  It occurred to me this week that swimming allowed me to pack light,  get  fitter and enjoy  nature.  So today i had my first wild swim.  I'm calling it that because in the past coming to a beach like boat harbour i would have swum out, waded and caught a few body waves and left.  But today i donned goggles and actually swam the length of the beach and back. We then had some fruit and a coffee and hung about on the rocks,  drying out.  The reason forecast for this afternoon had not arrived,  it's actually sunny and quite warm. Lovely experience.   Boat Harbour NSW.

not there yet

I'm on my second battery and am more hopeful. the first showed up looking like a scale model of a proper motorbike battery.  but, to be fair it did actually start my beautiful classic 500, so it did it's job i suppose.  but it will be recharged and retired of to do duty on Lurgy running lights and so forth.   the second battery,  a direct brother of the original,  arrived yesterday and i hope will be fitted up tomorrow.  It fuss the battery box and retainer bands exactly,  so there should be no problems.  Of course ask the lights and fittings are good for rego inspection,  i just need to get there.  needing someone to cover the fort here while I'm out and with Joe away,  i need Mia to stay still for an hour and that's ac tough ask.  it looks like tomorrow is out, but hopefully Friday will be the day.  I'm not getting my hopes up though because each time i attend the roads authority i have two options,  to pay through the nose to get what i need,  or am told to go fe
