a motor bike

Why? Well,  i don't  like cars,  and riding is fun,  cheap and nonconformist.    Even among the motorcycling community I'm a non conformist. the model I've just bought dates back to the 1950s. It's basically unchanged from then,  only it has electronic ignition and electronic fuel injection.  The biker i choose,  from several used bikes is 8 years old and had been stored for most of its life. It's also unregistered and not running,  which is why i bought it cheap.   I can say how she rides,  but o am really hanging out  to blast some decades old cobwebs or of my hair.

my "holy" mother

yesterday we celebrated the death old my mother,  Ruth.  At the time of her passing she was asleep,  aged 92 years. But there were few complaints from the family; she hard a life threatening stroke at age 47 and had been expected to die then.      late in the ceremony the priest, who did not know mum,  but had done his homework. He drew the attention of those present to two images of mum in the booklet provided, he said that he could identify simply from her face that mum was a "truly good person". He continued to speak in that for some time.

small steps

who would have predicted that within 48 hours of becoming a Carer for my 11yo great nephew, I became an orphan? my dearest mum passed in her sleep last Sunday aged 92 yo. She "had a good innings" ad they say,  but more importantly was a positive glow in the lives of those around her.   so anyway, no adventures were held last weekend unless you count venturing into life without ones parents,  as an adventure.   shop,  yeh,  i have young Charlie in my care. He comes with a bike,  "but the gears don't work" and I disco ever had hardly been ridden.  We had two brief rides this week as our adventure. The first was after-school essay the local village.  By way of a safety discussion,  ad much ad you can have with an 11 year old,  was to ask about safety.  "Yep, left side of the road". The first left bend we encounter sees him drift of into the road.  This was repeated soon after when he saw a path he thought would be good ttoride on. Off he goes across the r

a new mate, soldier crabs

Image
today we sailed with a new mate; a keen 11 year old who is new to sailing.  he showed some tensions as  lurga heeled but soon settled into a curious and energetic hand. the lively conditions were  made more humorous with the addition of neap tidal flows (due to the full moon).     there were few opportunities to view much of nature until we landed for a walk ashore and a bit of angling at taylors beach. here there entire battalions of tame soldier crabs.  the bulbous mauve balls patrolled the beach to the sound of masses of little claws scuttling..  i thought man's development of mangrove swamplands for their women folk had seen the demise of these little fellows, but happily realised the developers had failed in that quest too.    first mate & soldier crabs on the beach.  Overall a great day with a solid 4 hrs under sailing from lemon tree. only one other yacht under sail was seen.
